What is 2-way SMS messaging?
2-way messaging is an interaction between two people. It allows businesses to engage with customers, saves time, builds trust, and more.
2-way SMS messaging incorporates outbound (mobile terminated or MT) and inbound (mobile originated or MO) SMS into one fully featured service.
2-way SMS messaging uses virtual long numbers (virtual mobile numbers) or short codes.
What is the difference between short codes and virtual long number?
The main difference between the two is the length of the number; while virtual mobile numbers look like standard phone numbers, short codes have between 3 and 6 digits, making them easier to remember. On a national level, you can only use short codes, and countries worldwide have different regulations and requirements.
