Business verification

Business verification

Business verification confirms that your company is a legitimate entity, allowing you to scale your customer communication on the WhatsApp Business Platform. While businesses can start messaging customers immediately after the sender registration process is complete, verification is required for higher messaging limits, additional sender phone numbers, and the ability to display a verified business name in the WhatsApp client.

Verified business benefits

Business verification provides the following benefits:

  • Scale business-initiated conversations: Engage up to 1,000 unique customers within a rolling 24-hour period and gradually scale to 10,000, 100,000 or unlimited unique customers per phone number.
  • Respond to unlimited customer-initiated conversations: No restrictions on inbound message responses.
  • Enhance business credibility: Following business verification, your display name will become visible to the WhatsApp client. You can also request Official Business Account (OBA) status, which adds a blue checkmark and improves brand trust.
  • Register additional phone numbers: Verified businesses can add multiple phone numbers under their WABAs (unverified businesses can register 2 senders).
Important

Business verification is different from the verified badge. You will not receive a blue checkmark through this process, as it is reserved for businesses with Official Business Account (OBA) status.

Documents needed

When you are ready to verify your business, you can start the verification process (opens in a new tab) from Business Manager's Security Center. You will need to enter your legal business name, address, phone number, and website, then confirm your business details, and choose a verification method to receive a confirmation code.

If your business is not listed when you attempt to verify it, you will need to upload supporting documents, such as a business license or articles of incorporation, to confirm the details you enter. You can upload documents in the following supporting languages: Arabic, Bengali, English, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

Note

If your supporting business documents are not in languages listed above, you must used English translations with official stamps of a translating agency.

If you encounter any issues during business verification, there are a few things you can try to troubleshoot (opens in a new tab), or reach out to your account manager or Support.

Once you get your business verified, there are some business portfolio details you cannot change in the Business Manager. These include the business's legal name, country, phone number, website address or tax ID. You will also not be able to edit business details of a verified business portfolio used for a WhatsApp Business account.
