Overview

Resources

Resources are sender identities and communication assets that businesses use to send and receive messages across different channels, make calls, or interact with customers. These resources enable businesses to establish a presence on different communication platforms. These resources include alphanumeric senders, virtual long numbers (VLNs), short codes, and other messaging identifiers that enable seamless interaction with customers.

Resources are set up to send and/or receive traffic and include:

Numbers
  • Virtual Long Numbers (VLNs): can be used for SMS, MMS, Voice, and WhatsApp interactions, depending on the number
  • Short codes: short numeric codes used for high-volume messaging
  • Toll-Free Numbers (TFN): free for end users to call and for messaging, commonly used for customer support
  • Numbers can support inbound traffic
Alphanumeric sender IDsRegistered alphanumeric sender IDs: custom sender names (for example, INFOBIP) used for one-way traffic only
Chat app resourcesRegistered digital channel sender IDs: custom names used as messaging identifiers for digital channels, like Viber
Email domainsRegistered and verified email domains: sender domains that can use used to send email using the platform

Infobip provides the ability to request, register, and manage these resources efficiently either over the Resources API or in the web interface. When you login (opens in a new tab) using your Infobip account, you have a number of options for working with your resources, depending on your resource type:

  • Numbers - where you manage the SMS, MMS, or Voice numbers that you own, import previously procured numbers, and set up actions to be triggered after a message or a call has been received
  • My Requests - where you handle resource requests before they are approved and provisioned
  • Channels apps - where you can request senders for the channel, for example in the SMS app, you can request alphanumeric senders for SMS messaging
