Tanzania Letter of Authorization (LOA) guidelines

Registration requirements

This section provides information about the requirements for registering senders in Tanzania, which vary based on whether they are local or international senders. To register your senders in Tanzania, follow and submit the requirements below depending on the senders' traffic origin.

Sender requirements

  • Generic and numeric senders are strictly prohibited.
  • Some telco providers do not allow underscores in the sender's name.
  • The brand/sender name needs to be affiliated with the company.
  • The brand/sender name must be included in the content of the message in order to register the sender name for international traffic.

Local senders registration

A local sender is an entity that operates within Tanzania and focuses on reaching recipients who are also located within the country.

Before you proceed with the requirements, make sure to gather the following details as they will be necessary for registering with telco, in addition to the other documents:

  • Company name
  • Use case description
  • Message sample
  • Traffic type (transactional/promotional)

Download the Sender ID Authorization Letter template and follow the below guide for completing it. Fill in the yellow highlighted fields by completely replacing each field with your information. If a field is not highlighted, do not change it.

Sender ID Authorization Letter

  1. Company letterhead and footer.
  2. Date when the letter was filled out.
  3. Company name.
  4. Fill out the table with the company and representative details.
  5. Fill out the table with the sender names you want to register and their details.
  6. Representative signature with company stamp.

International senders registration

International sender operates outside Tanzania but the target recipients are located within Tanzania.

Before you proceed with the requirements, make sure to gather the following details as they will be necessary for registering with telco, in addition to the other documents:

  • Company name
  • Company website
  • Traffic origin
  • Use case description
  • Message sample
  • Traffic type (transactional/promotional)

Download the LOA template and follow the below guide for completing it. Fill in the yellow highlighted fields by completely replacing each field with your information. If a field is not highlighted, do not change it. If you are a reseller, a chain of LOAs is required (End client to reseller and Reseller to Infobip).

  1. Date when the LOA was filled out.
  2. Company letterhead.
  3. Company name.
  4. Fill out the table with the sender names you want to register and their details.
  5. Company and representative name with their signature.

Once all requirements and documents are completed, you can:

  • Direct customers (end customers) - start the Sender ID registration process here (opens in a new tab), and click the Request Sender button under Alphanumeric Sender ID. Provide the necessary details and submit the request.
  • Wholesales/partner - contact [email protected] and your dedicated account manager, and provide the documents along with the required sender information.
