Sender requirements

  • Generic senders are strictly prohibited.
  • Alphanumeric senders must contain a minimum of 3 characters, as per MNO regulations. Senders with fewer than 3 characters will be rejected.
  • Numeric senders - only UK VLNs can be registered. Any VLNs from other regions will be rejected.
  • The following special characters are allowed: "." (dot), "-" (dash), "_" (underscore), " " (space), "&" (ampersand). Any other special characters are not supported in the sender name.
  • Replacing letters with numbers or similar-looking symbols (e.g., changing 'A' to '4' or 'B' to '8') is not permitted. Any senders using such substitutions will be rejected.
  • Senders associated with Russian clients (e.g., Yandex) are strictly prohibited and will be rejected.

Except the above, note that the marketing and survey messages should only be sent to users who have opted in. Each message must include an opt-out option.

All sender types must include an opt-out mechanism. You can implement your own opt-out mechanism or use one of the available options:

  • URL opt-out: This can be configured at the account and country level.
  • Shortcode (SC) opt-out with keyword: Additional fees may apply. For more details, contact your account manager.

Once all requirements and documents are completed, you can:

  • Direct customers (end customers) - start the Sender ID registration process here (opens in a new tab), and click the Request Sender button under Alphanumeric Sender ID. Provide the necessary details and submit the request.
  • Wholesales/partner - contact [email protected] and your dedicated account manager, and provide the documents along with the required sender information.
